PLANS have been lodged for the removal of two trees within a conservation area in Millom.

The applicant Tesco Maintenances, submitted plans on November 23 to Cumberland Council to remove two self-seeded sycamore trees on Tesco Stores in Lancashire Road, Millom.

The tree rooted on the Tesco side of the palisade fence will be cut to as close as ground level as is feasible. The tree rooted on the railway side will be cut back to fence line. Ecoplugs will be inserted into the stumps to prevent regrowth.

Millom City Council said they had no objections in principle to this application.

Residents planning to cut down trees on their land can email the council to find out if any of them have a Tree Preservation Order.
