MOTORISTS in south Cumbria will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.
The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:
• A590, from 8pm August 16 to 6am December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Greenodd Roundabout, traffic signals for Speed limit signage and average speed camera installation.
• A590, from 9pm November 6 to 6am December 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 westbound, Ulverston to Swarthmoor, traffic signals and Lane closure for Reconstruction of retaining wall.
• M6, from 9.30am November 13 to 6am December 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 37 to 38, Lane closures for tree removal and re-planting.
• A590, from 9.30am November 24 2023 to 6 am March 27 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 34 to 37, Lane closures and slip road closure for tree removal and re-planting.
• A590, from 7.30am November 28 to 5pm November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Ulverston road, traffic signals for SU works (UU).
And a further two closures will begin soon:
• A590, from 7pm December 4 to 5am December 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Ulverston to Gilpin Bridge, traffic signals for survey and inspection works.
• A590, from 7am December 6 to 7pm December 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Newby bridge, traffic signals for SU works (ENW).
National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
