Carlisle born food critic and writer Grace Dent is set to appear on the latest series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Grace will be joined on the iconic show by a host of well known faces including politician, Nigel Farage, boxer Tony Bellew and First Dates star, Fred Sirieix.

The show sees the celebrities compete in often gruesome trials to win food for camp and eventually be crown king or queen of the jungle.

A show insider told The Sun newspaper: “Masterchef fans know Grace for her withering put-downs of contestants’ food and disdain for anything less than stellar cooking.

“But she’ll be eating humble pie in the jungle, surviving on rice and beans and taking part in Bushtucker trials.”

Last month Grace did a talk at Carlisle's Old Fire Station to celebrate the arrival of her new book, Comfort Eating.

Carlisle has always held a special place in the writer's heart and her recent review of Casa Romana in The Guardian documented her fondness for her home city.

The well-loved ITV show is set to hit our screens on Sunday, November 19 at 9pm.
