A DAD who wants to see CCTV cameras installed in a park says he has come across 'petrol bombs' in the same location.

Samuel Alty started a petition to the council for a CCTV to be implemented on Walney Island Park for the 'safety' of children.

This comes as his eight-year-old son was almost injured after teenagers threw a firework at him and his friend while playing in the park on the evening of October 23.

The petition launched on October 24 through Change.org already counts with 121 signatures.

The dad said he has also come across what he claims to be 'petrol bombs' in the same park.

He said: "The current smell at the park is that of pure petrol most of the time."

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "No reports of anything of this nature received – indeed, it doesn’t appear we’ve had any reports relating to the park in the last day or so.

"We would urge anyone who believes they have evidence of criminality to report it to the police in all circumstances."
