The Santa Express Land Train is set to steam into Barrow town centre again this Christmas.

The locomotive will arrive on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday 3 and will be running daily from 10am until 4pm giving free train rides around the town.

No booking is required as Christmas 'commuters' will be able to embark and disembark at various 'stations' which are yet to be confirmed. This will allow people to hop on and off as they do their Christmas shopping and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

The festive land train will be operating on a circular route around Barrow Town Centre, with rides taking around 25 minutes with covers to protect its passengers from bad weather.

Jenny Fazackerley, Barrow BID Chair/Volunteer Director: "We really want people to choo choo choose Barrow town centre this Christmas, to shop local and enjoy everything our town has to offer.

"Following the huge popularity of us introducing the Santa Express last year, we have brought it back again for 2023 so everyone can enjoy the experience for steaming around the town doing their Christmas shopping."

This year will also see Christmas film screenings being held at the Forum of Home Alone, allowing people to watch this Christmas classic, followed by a ride on the Santa Express.

The film starring Macaulay Culkin, will show twice at The Forum on Saturday, 11am and 2pm, then at 2pm on Sunday.

There will, of course, be a chance to meet the man himself, Father Christmas, to the backdrop of festive music around the town.

Buskers will be located throughout Barrow Town Centre playing festive music to help get visitors into the festive spirit whilst Christmas Shopping.

Santa will also be spreading Christmas joy around including being present at the end of both movie showings.

Tickets for these film showings cost just £1 and are available from the Forum box office.
