A PUPIL sustained a 'lower leg injury' after falling on a fell race.
On Thursday October 19 as part of the John Ruskin School fell race in Coniston a student sustained a 'lower leg injury' and was 'unable to walk.'
The incident took place at 1pm in Mouldry Bank and the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist the girl.
A spokesperson for the rescue team said: "A teacher called our nearest marshal in, and he initiated a full callout through CUMPOL.
"The girl was assessed, pain relief given, her leg splinted and she was then carried to our close-by Land Rover.
"We drove her back to school to meet her mother who would then drive her to Furness General Hospital for further assessment."
The rescue took 1h25 minutes to be completed with the support of 9 volunteers.
