NEW landlords who have just re-opened a well-known pub in Dalton got a visit from the town's mayor.

Mayor of Dalton with Newton Nick Perie took a stroll down to the Newton Arms on Newton Road to meet the new landlords and see the changes made to the new pub.

Dave and Julie also own another well-known pub, the Robin Hood pub on Crellin Street in Barrow.

The Dalton pub does not serve food at the moment but by Christmas food will be offered again from what will be brand new refurbished kitchens.

Councillor Perie said: "It's lovely to have them both here in Dalton. I talked to Julie as Dave was out and was given a guided tour of the pub.

"I welcomed them to Dalton, introduced myself and explained I'm their councillor as well.

"It's great to see people still taking on businesses and bringing new ideas and styles to Dalton.

"This helps the community as we have a reasonably good infrastructure in the town, although it's always nice to welcome further businesses to the town to offer more choice for our residents."

The opening of the pub, on the top of Dalton’s Cemetery Hill, was celebrated in a two-page feature in The Mail published on October 31 in 1967.
