Cumbria residents are being warned of a current scam being operated involving a fake Wilkos website. This follows the annoucement that all 400 stores around the UK are set to close.

Cumberland Trading Standards Service has warned that scammers have targeted the Cumberland area offering reduced price items via scam payment links in emails and on fraudulent websites.

Administrators PwC have previously confirmed however that Wilko is no longer selling items online.

The service says that the fraudulent sites allow you to purchase items but do not send you any of the purchased goods.

Speaking on the Cumberland Trading Standards Service page, a spokesperson said: "Please check that you are ordering from reputable websites, and that you have not been redirected to another site, before purchasing any items online.

"Wilko.com is no longer accepting online purchases and any sites appearing to be selling items on behalf of Wilkos are likely to be of a fraudulent nature."
