BOSSES at a Tex-Mex restaurant have announced its closure.

The Ranch, in Market Place, Ulverston, will not reopen at the same location, it has been announced.

The restaurant, which sold traditional Texas tacos, burritos and rice bowls, has been trading since May last year.

The eatery originally opened as a takeaway in Bolton’s Place before branching out into a restaurant.

The business was opened by husband and wife Alex and Whitney Hunter, who was born and bred in Texas and wanted to bring a taste of home to the local area.

In a statement published on social media, bosses at the restaurant said another business would be moving into the space and its 'potential' new owners were looking for another space for The Ranch.

A spokesperson said: "We are devastated to announce that we will not be reopening, at least not at 8 Market Place.

"Another business will be moving into the space we called home. However, our dream is still alive and our potential new owners are actively looking for another space that could work for The Ranch.

"You have all made this an amazing ride and we can't thank you enough for your support every step of the way. We cherish every laugh and memory made. We believe there is a path forward for The Ranch.

"We're just not sure what that looks like yet. If you or anyone you know has a commercial property for rent that could work for us, please give us a shout."

Restaurant bosses have said that those with unredeemed gift vouchers, to email whitney@theranchcumbria.com for reimbursement by September 24.

A spokesperson said: "If you haven't been in touch yet, email a picture of the voucher with your bank details and I'll get it sorted for you.

"Thanks so much for all the support and suggestions on potential new sites for us.

"Long may The Ranch live on."
