Roxy cinema bosses are urging music and film lovers to ignore its ongoing refurbishments for a very special upcoming screening which will be graced by a rockstar.

Tickets have been in demand for the screening of Bolan's Shoes at the Roxy cinema in Ulverston on Wednesday September 20. Filmed in Liverpool and Anglesey starring Timothy Spall, Leanne Best and Mark Lewis-Jones, the film is centered around  pioneers of the 1970s glam rock movement, Marc Bolan’s T-Rex.

The band’s original drummer Paul Fenton will be present at the screening along with director Ian Puleston-Davies.

Charles Morris, proprietor of the Roxy, said: "This promises to be a most prestigious and entertaining event. We’ve had any number of famous people on the screen, but not so often in our midst.

"This is a chance to see a film and talk to the people who made it. People should not be put off by the scaffolding surrounding the Roxy; it’s all part of the refurbishment which is taking place. Inside it’s business as usual, but this time with a difference."

The film begins at 7.30pm.Tickets are £10 and can be booked on line at www.nm-cinemas.co.uk. There will be a licensed bar for the evening.
