Coronation Street's Sam Aston visited south Cumbria with his family - describing it as the "perfect getaway."

Sam 30, his wife Briony and son Sonny James and daughter Daisy Josephine posed for pictures at the two-bed Little Barn Cottage, near Grange

The soap star, who has portrayed the role of Chesney Brown on the ITV soap opera since 2003, only posts on his Instagram around twice a year so the snaps are a rare glimpse into their happy family life on holiday.

The snaps posted on Tuesday (August 15) to his 125,000 followers include the family posing in front of the Old Post Office in Cartmel and one of mum Briony and Daisy Josephine on the beach flying a kite.

Another showed three-year-old Sonny James on the soap star's shoulders by the sea. There is also a very sweet picture of the siblings holding hands posing by a park bench.

A walkthrough video was also posted of the quaint cottage they stayed in with stunning views of Morecambe Bay.

Sam captioned the post: "Thank you @littlebarn85 for having us, we can’t wait to come back already.

"Perfect getaway for families and dogs."

One fan replied: "Such a lovely place with fantastic views of Morecambe Bay. Know the owners well, very nice family. Will always go extra mile for their guest."

The majority of comments were about Sam's adorable children however.

One woman posted: "Awe wee cuties, they are so like you Sam Aston.

Another posted: "He is your DOUBLE. Gorgeous".

One woman add: "Look at those little redheads" whilst someone else added: "What cuties. They are the image of you"
