THE author of Minnie's Scrapbook: A journey in the footsteps of Minnie Pratt will be one of the guests giving a talk at the first Countryside Live.
Gary Johnston will be speaking at the event in Ambleside on November 11 2023. Countryside Live features a range of walks talks, food, drink and music related to the Lakes.
Gary bought an old scrapbook at an auction house in Carlisle but found beautiful paintings inside related not only to the Lakes, Ulverston and Barrow but also across the world.
He created a Facebook group to find out more about the artist behind it, and in the process gained a fascinating insight into the social history of the Furness region in the early twentieth century, and Minnie's travels around the world.
The scrapbook was a central feature at an exhibition in the Dock Museum and his book has been ordered by people around the world.
