A show by Furness-born Sophie Craig has been named ‘one of the best plays’ at the ‘world's greatest platform for creative freedom’.

Sophie, who grew up in Dalton, is an actor, writer and comedian with numerous film and TV credits. She is currently performing her debut play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In an article run by The Telegraph, ‘I Love You, Now What?’ was named top of the list of must-see acts, which is impressive considering Sophie performs among thousands of talented artists.

Exploring the impact grief has on intimate relationships, Sophie wrote the play based on her own experience with grieving a loved one.

In ‘I Love You, Now What?’ Sophie plays a young woman called Ava, who embarks on a new relationship - with Theo - while her father is contending with terminal brain cancer.

Every day throughout the month of August, Sophie performs her play at 3:35pm in the Pleasance Courtyard.

“It’s going really, really well,” she said, “I’m enjoying it.”

Doing a show every day is 'quite tiring' but Sophie said it has also given her the opportunity to be 'learning and perfecting' all the time.

Every August, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival celebrates the art and this year has seen 3,500 performers descend on the city.

Sophie fits in well with the stand-up comedians, poets, singers and performers.

She said: “It’s lovely to be part of such a famous festival”

The actress has been 'lucky' to perform in front of some 'lovely' audiences and has even had a few people from Barrow come up to support her. She said: “I’ve seen a few people who have followed my show, it’s always lovely to hear the accent of home."

Sophie is 'having a ball' performing every day and found her mention in the Telegraph 'really exciting'. She said: “It’s crazy!”

In the future, Sophie hopes to take ‘I Love You, Now What?’ on tour to the West End in London. “We will see where it takes us,” she said but there is 'potentially a film' fans should look forward to.
