A MOUNTAIN rescue team has saved a dog trapped in a Lake District beck.

On August 10 a family was walking their dog up the track beside Church Beck when the dog went over the edge and landed in the beck.

Cumbria Police called Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) to help and they sent two Land Rovers to the closest point - southeast of Miner's Bridge.

A rope system was set up for the team members, and the dog was recovered from the water, having suddenly found himself learning to swim.

He was treated for his injuries on-scene before his owners then took him to the local vets, which had been made aware of his pending arrival.

This was CMRT's 40th incident of the year.

The rescue was attended by 12 members and it lasted three hours.
