BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has provided a fitness update on his Bluebirds squad.

Wild's Barrow get the home leg of their 2023/24 season underway on Saturday when they welcome Matt Gray's Sutton United to the SO Legal Stadium.

This follows the Bluebirds' 2-1 away victory against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, with the only injury absentee being 20-year-old defender Mazeed Ogungbo who is set to be out for around three months only weeks after he signed from Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

Ahead of their clash with the Us, Wild confirmed that Barrow's 2022/23 top assister Ben Whitfield is set to be out until the end of the month with an Achilles issue. However he shared a positive update on Jamie Proctor.

He said: "Ben Whitfield has had a bit of a stalled return; his Achilles has not healed as well as we thought so will probably be towards the end of the month before he is back.

"Jamie Proctor should be fit."
