Barrow AFC manager Pete Wild wants his side to be on the 'front foot' against Sutton United.

The Bluebirds welcome the Us to the SO Legal Stadium in their first home match of the 2023/24 League Two season with Barrow looking to build on their 2-1 away victory against Tranmere Rovers on the opening weekend of the season.

Matty Gray's side are currently top of the league on goal difference after firing five past promotion favourites Notts County last weekend. Speaking ahead of their trip to South Cumbria, Wild challenged his squad to 'nullify' Gray's 'distinct' football philosophy.

He said: "Matt has got a real district way of playing and there is no surprise with how the way Matt plays. I think he has recruited ever so well with what he has brought in, he has brought in some top players and we know their threats, we know how they are going to play.

"You can see how much they hurt Notts County with the way they play and it is really important that we become the aggressor as the home side on Saturday and we take the game to them to try and nullify what their threats are."

Wild also explained how he is hoping the Bluebirds will take the game to Sutton despite their opponent's prolific attacking line-up which features former North Cumbrian favourite Omari Patrick, who was at the double on his Us debut.

He said: "We want to be on the front foot. We have sat in for two games to soak up pressure but we want to be on the front foot on Saturday.

"We want to be taking the game to Sutton. We know they have got Patrick, Josh Coley, Harry Smith, Scott Kasket, and an array of forward talent who can hurt us but we want to try and get them on the back foot and not just be sat in waiting for them to throw what they have got at us."
