PHOTOS captured the heavy flooding at a business park in Ulverston which led to the closure of a supermarket.

M&S in Ulverston was forced to close its doors on Saturday after flooding affected the supermarket’s car park.

Bosses released a customer announcement at 9.20 am warning people that the shop was closed.

The food hall said the supermarket will have to close ‘until further notice’ and they are hoping to get this resolved.

M&S promised to update customers once the store has re-opened and thanked people for their understanding.

A spokesman said: “We have had to keep our main car park closed due to heavy flooding but there is alternative parking available on the site including the M&S staff car park to the side of the building. Again, thank you for your understanding.”

M&S reopened later on Saturday.

After a weather warning for thunderstorms was issued by the Met Office on Saturday morning, Ulverston and the wider Furness area experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend.
