An independent cinema and museum in Ulverston is set to get a re-vamp in the coming months.

The first phase of the planned renovations will take place for the Roxy building on Brogden Street. The Roxy Collective works to protect, preserve, restore and revitalise the heritage building.

A spokesperson made the announcement today (July 14) on its Facebook and said: "This will primarily consist of fixing the roof and giving the exterior of the building a fresh lick of paint with some other exciting changes. It's important to note that all businesses in the building will still be open and operating normal hours during this time.

"This work will mean that the building will have scaffolding around it for a while. In honour of this beloved building and for prosperity before these changes happen"

The Roxy collective wants people to share their favourite photos/memories of the Roxy from the past decade. These can be shared via Facebook messenger and the page will share its favourite photos of the building in the coming weeks.

Progress of the works will also be posted on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/theroxycollective.
