A LEYLANDII Conifer near the A591 Elleray Road junction in Windermere might be felled as the owner said there was a 'high risk of secondary limbs failing on it.'

The tree is within the Windermere conservation area and therefore is under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO).

To amend or destroy a tree with a TPO, the owner must get written permission from the local authority.

In the application document submitted to the Lake District National Park Authority, it states: "It is encroaching on the boundary wall of the property and is too close to the property. It has been reduced in the past but now has a high risk of secondary limbs failing on it.

"It is also close to the main A591 and busy junction. The owner has asked for this tree to be felled."
