Shoppers to Barrow market can now get their fortune told thanks to one stall holder.

63-year-old Linda Nussbuam-Richman has been telling people's fortunes for around 50 years and runs a market stall called L&K Trading.

Many may recognise her stall by the stylish mannequin at the front of the shop which regularly changes its outfits and wigs.

The business sells retro and modern clothes along with all kinds of quirky products including vintage and antique items, curios, books, toys, handmade gifts, books and magazines.

Linda also works as an adult education tutor and says she comes from a long line of mystics. Her grandmother and mother were both psychics along with her great aunt who was a medium.

Linda inherited a deck of gypsy playing cards that dates back to 1904 which she used to do readings and does not use the more well-known tarot deck of cards.

"Tarot cards can be too dark," Linda said. "I've always used Gypsy decks and normal playing cards to tell people's fortunes. I like to give more positive readings and I'd never tell people about death or dying.

"If I do have to warn someone of something it will always be in a gentle way and it'd be something like 'try and avoid having a trip or a fall so avoid wearing high heels, or 'beware of people gossiping'.

"I also do dream interpretation and I'm hoping to introduce palmistry around September time."

Visitors to L&K Trading will notice there are a lot of electrical items and engineering magazines which you may not find in your average vintage shop.

Linda said: "It's because of the local interest in the area due to BAE and the interest in model engineering. We also have quite a lot of unique electronic items too.

"At the moment we have a device that detects temperature changes - which could be good for ghosthunters."

Linda decided to offer the card reading service after she performed the service at an event organised by fellow Barrow Market stallholder Blessed Be.

Linda added: "The readings went so well I decided to offer it as a service. I shuffle the cards and encourage people to think deeply and use the warmth of the hands on the cards to transmit and inform the reading.

"People can be very into readings generally, especially tarot readings, however you have to mindful of not believing everything that's out there."

Readings are currently being held on Fridays with Linda's market days being Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. She is happy to book readings in for her other working days however which can be done through messaging either the Barrow Market or the L & K Trading Facebook pages.

She is temporarily away from Friday July 7 to Wednesday July 26 but is still happy to receive inquiries.
