A friendly black and white cat is still in need of a loving home in Furness.

Hector is currently being cared for at the Barrow-in-Furness RSPCA branch which covers the whole of the Furness Peninsula.

Recently the charity put out a plea to the public after a volunteer went to the cattery to meet Hector's prospective adopter twice only for them not to turn up on both occasions.

A member of the public found the moggy after he hid in her back garden in Millom for around a week. She then discovered his head injury and took him to Broughton Vets before he was taken to the RSPCA branch around ten days ago.

He is around five years old and is neutered, chipped and has started his vaccinations.

The Mail: Hector not long after he'd been brought in on top of the microwave

A spokesperson for the RSPCA Barrow branch said: "The vets don’t know how poor Hector got his head injury but it is clearing up nicely. He is very chilled and would probably fit in anywhere

"He is a total lap cat that follows you around. He loves attention and all the volunteers love him. He's not been tried with cats or children but he’s that chilled we think he’d be ok.

"He is showing a keen interest in going out so a safe area for him is needed. He is definitely ready to go to his own home now."

The adoption fee is £100 and potential adopters can message the RSPCA Barrow Facebook page

The branch stressed at the weekend that it would not tolerate messages of an aggressive or confrontational manner and reminded the public that it can only give advice where it can.

The Mail: Hector is very friendly and has been described as a "lap cat"

The branch does have an advice centre which is open three days a week which provides assistance to the general public.

It also welcomes volunteers to assist with pre-adoption, animal care, transport, fundraising and post-adoption home visiting among many other issues.

Please visit the RSPCA website for advice and the proper processes to follow. Also let the branch know if you change your mind about an adoption.
