AN artist inspired by his work on a psychiatric ward in Barrow is hosting a new exhibition.

Ivor Sexton is gearing up to host an exhibition of artwork known as BODY and SOUL.

BODY and SOUL is an exhibition of work that has been created over a period of years.

"In part it is a retrospective and the paintings are stories," said Ivor.

"They deal with many themes both dark and not so dark. All have a narrative.

"The work is 'male-centered and deals with themes from mental health issues to Shapeshifters Naked Ambition to storytelling.

"Having worked on an acute psychiatric ward in Barrow for many years all my paintings have an element of emotional fragility.

"It was the work I was employed to do on the ward that kicked off the inspiration for the paintings I am currently doing.

"The exhibition does contain nudity. These are an integral part of the narrative and are not intended to shock."

The exhibition takes place at the Voodoo Tattoo Studio in Lancaster from July 29 to September 29. Admission is free.
