A NEW café for Lake District visitors has opened and promises a 'stunning' terrace area.

Force café opened in Kelsick Grammar, Stockghyll Lane, Ambleside on Tuesday.

The café is open every day for breakfast, brunch and lunch, coffee, tea and cakes.

They serve barista coffee from Cumbrian roasters Carvetti, a wide range of teas and soft drinks, local ales and a choice of wines and spirits.

Twice a week during the season they will open for wood-fired pizza nights on the terrace and they will be hosting monthly evening talks from some local celebrities.

Café manager Gavin Dale said the cafe 'sets apart' from other businesses due to its location.

He said: "We are out of town and up the hill so we have got a really stunning terrace area where people can sit down and enjoy the views.

"It is nice and peaceful as we are out of the busyness of town and enjoy the fells.

"We have a very beautiful indoor place that is going to be suitable for events."

He said they have had many visitors and the feedback has been 'really positive.'

"People are really blown away by the location of it and the view it offers," he said.

"We have had people saying it is different from everything else in the area.

"Visitors have also complemented the food that we are offering as it is mostly locally sourced."

The menu has options for people who follow vegan and vegetarian diets.

Force café also offers visitors a small shop that stocks a range of locally sourced gifts and mementoes.

The cafe is open from Monday to Sunday, 10am until 5pm, with hot food finishing at 4pm.

They will be advertising evening openings at the weekends.

There is no parking available on site for café customers.
