A new escape room quest is set to open at the weekend as people must put their minds to the test to stop a terrorist attack.

Break Free Escape Rooms in Barrow on Rawlinson Street is to unveil its new 'abandoned factory' room on Saturday.

The challenge is to prevent terrorists from blowing up bombs in various locations around the world.

The faction is planning to bomb a new location and you have found out from the judicial authorities that its hideout is an abandoned factory - in which you are now trapped.

The terrorists have escaped and a bomb is set to be detonated right where you are. You now have just an hour to find the key to free yourself from the room before the detonation.

Split into three rooms, participants must complete the tasks before moving on to the next. Set in a dank, dark and dilapidated factory, the pressure is on.

The attraction has four rooms in total which are Prison Break, Room 13, Ascension and now its nerve-wracking addition - not including its ship-themed Laserquest on the other side.

Manager at Break Free Escape Rooms Ellie Bowman said: "Abandoned Factory is our latest room and it's such a cool theme. It's dark and intense when you're in there and the pressure is on with warning signs everywhere.

"I absolutely love adding props and there are brand new hard hats and hi-vis vets for people to put on as it's another element to add to the fun.

"It's always great seeing how people solve the puzzles and seeing how their brains work. We get to try the new puzzles first so I can't wait to see how people are going to find this one."

Two to six players can enter the Abandoned Factory and the difficulty is rated 4.5 stars out of five.

Upon entering, players will find what looks like various pipes, vaults, a maze and switches - this is just the first room. Next you're warned to wear protective equipment as you enter a room with a chest, a map of the world on the wall along with various devices, test tubes and metres on the wall.

The final is the most dark and pressured of all as lights on and off push you to move faster. If you look down, you may catch a glimpse of the Abandoned Factory's last victim.
