STAFF at the Holiday Inn Express Barrow and South Lakes took part in suicide prevention training. 

Two members of the team had training with Every Life Matters Cumbria to understand when someone is at risk and how to help them. 

Every Life Matters is a charity specialising in suicide prevention support, services and training. 

It runs free online and in-house (email training@every-life-matters.org.uk) training courses, including: 

  • One-hour bitesize awareness sessions
  • Three-hour suicide alertness (for anyone in a helping role to understand more about the context of suicide and how to identify when someone is at risk)
  • Half-day suicide first aid
  • Two-hour stepped safety plan (for supporting someone with thoughts of suicide)
  • Half-day emotional resilience course (strategies and coping mechanisms to promote wellbeing
  • Half-day self-harm alertness (for school staff, health and social care practitioners and professionals) 
  • One hour supporting children's mental health and wellbeing
  • One-day assessing for suicide in kids
  • Two-day applied suicide intervention skills training
  • Two-day mental health first aid
  • Half-day suicide response part one
  • Half-day suicide response part two
