A popular Ulverston pub is showing off its new makeover after months of work. The scaffolding has finally been removed from the Kings Arms Hotel on King Street to reveal a new paint job just in time for the excellent weather.

The pub was still on winter hours whilst scaffolding was up so had to be closed at lunch times in the week.

The stylish town centre hotel has cosy accommodation and a bar and restaurant with a courtyard and beer garden outside. As well as a new look, the pub also has new summer opening hours and a new Thai menu.

Dishes from the new brunch lunch menu include pesto eggs wraps, French toast and three cheese toasties. There is also a new bar menu as well as new Thai offerings from chef Bea that can be eaten in or taken away. The menu includes Thai green curry with potato, stir fried chicken/beef in oyster sauce with onion, tomato and bell pepper and famous Thai noodles, Pad Thai.

Monday and Friday nights are pizza nights which sees them cooked outside alfresco style in the King's courtyard from 5pm. The current deal is two pizzas for £12. There is also a British pub classics menu.

Claire Farrell, who runs the Kings Arms, said: "There was a mistake with the paint colour at first so the makeover took a lot longer than anticipated. We're relieved to finally get the scaffolding off just in time for the summer and the nice weather.

"We are super excited to be re-opening with our summer hours again and we also have an exciting new bar menu as well as Beas Thai, eat in and takeaway.

Bingo also takes place on Monday nights from 7pm and with resident musician Pete Buckley regularly returns to play one hour unplugged sets on various evenings.
