THERE are multiple road closures on the National Highways network across south Cumbria coming soon. 

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• A590, from 8pm June 12 to 6am June 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Park Road Roundabout to Goldmire Bridge, traffic signals for CCTV survey.

• A590, until 5am June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 Ulverston Road, traffic signals for SU works (BT).

And a further five closures/delays are expected over the next two weeks:

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on May 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 jct 36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

• A590, from 9am May 30 to 3.30pm June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound, Haverthwaite to Backbarrow, two-way signals and lane closure to Repair damaged parapet.

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 jct 36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

• M6, from 10pm June 4 to 9pm June 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 36 to 37, Lane three closure for cyclic activities safety fence, drainage, sign, electrical, soft estate and sweeping and litter maintenance and asset inspections.

• M6, from 10pm June 11 to 9pm June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 36 to 37, Lane three closure for cyclic activities safety fence, drainage, sign, electrical, soft estate and sweeping and litter maintenance and asset inspections.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in its schedule.
