BARROW AFC has confirmed that they will take on FC United of Manchester in a pre-season friendly.

The Bluebirds will make the trip to Broadhurst Park on Saturday, July 8, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

This news comes a week after the announcement that Barrow would be hiring out the Northern Premier League side's facilities and using them as their training base 'for the foreseeable future, effective immediately'.

Speaking last week on the club website, Bluebirds sporting director Iain Wood said: "Moving to FC United of Manchester is a massive step up for us in attaining the standards that we are wanting to achieve daily.

"Myself, the staff, and the players are excited about this move as we continue to keep pushing in the right direction and give ourselves the best opportunity to achieve our goals next season."

The friendly against Neil Reynolds' side adds to Barrow's already-arranged pre-season matches against Holker Old Boys on Tuesday, July 11 and Oldham Athletic on Thursday, July 25.
