A MAN who has been vocal about performing as a busker in towns in south Cumbria will have a weekly residency at a Ulverston pub.

Peter Buckley has got a residential slot at the Kings Arms, Ulverston, also known as the Big Kings.

He will be performing from 3-4pm on Saturdays in the beer garden.

Peter is one of the musicians who spoke about performing in Ulverston after the police received a noise complaint over buskers disrupting businesses.

The buskers received a large amount of support from other residents in the town.

He said: "One of the beautiful aspects of busking in Ulverston has been meeting the locals. Honestly, they are the nicest people I’ve ever come across in my life and in a lot of ways."

Peter, who mostly plays acoustic covers of rock music, performed in bands in London before the lockdown and has since been looking to regrow his audience base in the north.

He said: "I'm really happy with the residency as it'll be like a regular place for me to play and grow an audience from in Ulverston, also planning on getting a band together and using the hour on the Saturday as a place to grow the band from."
