FIVE new homes are due to be built in a village if plans are approved.

An application seeking permission for the construction of five homes at Allithwaite, near Grange, has been submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council.

All of the properties would have four bedrooms and two storeys.

Three of the properties would be detached and have driveways and integral garages.

A pair of semi-detached homes would have driveways but not garages.

A new access road is planned. Work on this has already begun as part of a previously approved application.

The houses would be built on land off Holme Lane, to the south of a property named Lyndene.

A planning statement submitted by Leeming Associates in support of the application says: "The dwellings will be constructed with materials in keeping with the locality, namely render finish and stone detailing to walls, and pitched roofs clad with concrete roof tiles."

The two semi-detached homes would be classified as affordable.

The applicant is Robin Lawson, of BCLS Ltd. Another application from Mr Lawson – for the same site and seeking approval for four detached properties – is also awaiting a decision.
