A CUSTOMER is set to be handed a lifetime ban from a town centre bar after vandalising the toilets on the business’s opening weekend.

Ignition Cocktail Bar welcomed crowds of customers through its doors for an ‘amazing’ opening weekend.

The bar was taken over by husband and wife Daniele and Myles Rogerson, who both used to work in Rioja in Ulverston under the previous owners. They took over the New Market Street venue after they were given first refusal - and have rebranded it as Ignition.

Myles is continuing his role as the DJ and Daniele is working as the full manager. The Rogersons have employed ten staff and will also need more to cover weekends and bank holidays.

On their first day of reopening as Ignition, the couple shared on their social media page that the gent’s toilet was targeted by a vandal.

Bosses said: “Unfortunately, there was some criminal damage carried out in the gent’s toilet which is extremely hurtful as we have spent so much time, energy and money to bring you Ignition but I guess you get that in business.”

However, the couple’s investment in their new CCTV system has paid off as the culprit was caught in action, and will receive a lifetime ban from the bar.

They said: “So over the next few days we will obtain a name and that person will receive a lifetime ban from our establishment and will be presented to the Ulverston bar watch committee.”

The bar will be bringing back activities that proved popular in the pandemic such as Loco Bingo from Saturday, April 8.

There will also be quiz nights and karaoke nights. Daniele said that this is to appeal to an older crowd than what Rioja brought in.

Daniele said the cocktail menu would be reduced so that it would be easier to make better quality cocktails and the mixologist who is creating the menu and training the staff is her nephew.

Ignition is hosting a number of events over Bank Holiday weekend, including a quiz night, karaoke night and loco bingo. Bookings can be made on the Ignition website.
