A FAMILY business that closed down in the face of false allegations has restarted trading.

Super Whip Ices was run by Mohammed Ramzan and his family but was forced to close after they became the target of abuse.

Mo Rammy was accused by Eleanor Williams of human trafficking, which prompted a deluge of threats for the family in person and on social media.

The 22-year-old is serving an eight and a half year prison sentence for perverting the course of justice after she was found to have made claims and fabricated evidence.

Under its new name, Whippy Wonders, the ice cream and desserts business has now reopened and is currently operating delivery only.

In a post on social media, Whippy Wonders said: "We are sure you know of the events that led to our business to ultimately be shut down, it wasn’t a decision we would have taken but we were left with no option as the amount of abuse we received even though we were innocent beggared belief, we did it for our own protection and safety.

"Now the truth is out there and you, the public, now know the truth.

"We would love nothing more than to launch back up, with your support and help we would love to reclaim our business which provided a lot of people in Barrow, Dalton and Askam with desserts they loved and some of our unique takes on popular desserts, that's why we are announcing our rebrand."

The business is delivering sweet treats to homes, which can be ordered via its Facebook page or by phone.

There are also plans for ice cream vans to return to the streets.

Mr Ramzan told Preston Crown Court he had received hundreds of death threats

"The business crumbled with all of the false allegations," Mr Ramzan said.

"I've had my ice cream van smashed, I've had my house smashed, I've had my cars smashed."

After Williams was sentenced his son Haroon said he had slept with a baseball bat and a fire extinguisher next to his bed.

He said: “Before the trial the whole case was based on public opinion.

"Nothing will make right the hurt and pain we experienced, we are just happy that the truth is now out there and we can go back to running our businesses and moving on together as a family."
