THE owners of a pub in Greenodd have withdrawn their application to turn the building from a pub into a single residential dwelling.
Stuart and Pauline Webster, proprietors of The Ship Inn on Main Street, submitted the proposal to South Lakeland District Council in February.
In a cover letter that accompanied the application, they cited 'financial difficulties', coupled with government Covid-19 restrictions, as the reason that they were in 'no position' to reopen the pub after restrictions ended.
The couple originally placed the property and business on the market in January 2019, saying: "The property was reasonably valued and reflected market value at the time."

The property was withdrawn from the market in November 2020.
The letter says: "When some establishments were enabled to reopen with outdoor serving only, we could not, due to not having an outdoor area.
"Further easing of restrictions allowed some establishments to reopen if they served food.
"Again, as we didn't serve food we could not comply with these guidelines, so again we had to remain closed.
"Once the restrictions were fully removed for all hospitality establishments to open, all other running costs had risen drastically and so we were completely in no position financially to reopen our pub."
