BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has praised 'patient' Ben Whitfield after a positive showcase against Sutton United.

Ahead of his side's clash with Simon Weaver's Harrogate Town this weekend, Wild reflected on his side's performance against Sutton United and the performance of Ben Whitfield.

The creative Bluebirds midfielder still sits third on the League Two assists chart with 11 - only behind Carlisle United's Owen Moxon and Salford City's Salford City.

However, in tandem with the busy schedule of recent weeks, Wild has rotated his squad.

Despite this, the Bluebirds boss praised Whitfield's patience and showcase in the goalless draw against Sutton United.

He said: "He has done well since coming back into the team, when he came out of the team players came in and did well and he had to be patient.

"I thought he showed glimpses on Saturday, when we brought him off we just thought his race was run a little bit and we thought we just needed some fresh legs on there.

"He is getting into some good areas and he is giving us that width to get balls into the box."
