BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has discussed Jake Young's recent form and efforts to help him showcase his 'qualities'.

Following his side's 0-0 draw with Matt Gray's Sutton United on Saturday, the Bluebirds boss highlighted the 'importance of wide areas'.

In recent weeks as Wild has rotated his squad, Bradford loanee Young has begun to show off why Barrow brought him in the January transfer window.

After a handful of substitute appearances and managing 65 minutes against Walsall two weeks ago, Young made his longest appearance for the club so far, being deployed for 85 minutes against the Us last time out before being replaced by Robbie Gotts.

Ahead of his side's away day against Harrogate Town, Wild discussed the wide-man's qualities and how he can still improve.

He said: "Jake has done really well and unfortunately, he came in from Bradford maybe not at the level that we thought he would come in at and it has taken us a little bit of time to get him back up to the level where we know he can be and I think he can still do more.

"85 minutes is the most he has played in a long time on Saturday, and he is really bringing to the party what he is good at.

"He is really good on the ball, he likes to face people up, he has got good pace to get down the sides of people and that is why we brought him in and he is really showing them qualities now.
