LANGDALE Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called to three consecutive incidents on a busy but chilly Sunday (March 12).

The callouts were all within a couple of kilometres of each other in Langdale, beginning with a call at 9.55 am to Blea Rigg.

A party of six volunteers helped three campers as they struggled to make their way back down to the valley in a rescue operation that lasted three and a half hours.

The second alert came at 2.10 pm, from two walkers who were lost, again on Blea Rigg.

A fell-runner happened upon the stricken pair, who pointed them in the right diection, restricting the time that volunteers were engaged to 50 minutes.

The final rescue of the day came in shortly after the second at 2.45 pm.

A team of 16 was called to a walker who had taken a fall, damaging her lower leg, just below Tarn Crags on the pony track up to Stickle Tarn.

The team packaged the injured lady up in the driving rain and wind, and stretchered her down to Sticklebarn, where they were met with an ambulance.

The team then returned back to base after this final three-hour rescue operation.
