THE South Cumbria Musical Festival is returning once again to The Coro for a week of events from March 20 to 25.
The festival was formed in 1976 and is now a major competitive event in the area for bands related to individuals, schools, and groups of all ages and standards. This will be the 45th festival at the Coro in Ulverston.
Performers will be given comments and advice by renowned international adjudicators. It is hoped that engaging with the festival will give competitors the confidence to go on to further achievements. Bursaries are awarded to encourage performers to advance their chosen discipline.
There are also a number of non-competitive classes. For the first time, the festival has introduced non-competitive classes in all disciplines.
This is to encourage more people to take part in the festival.
Entrance fees for different disciplines have had to go up slightly this year in line with the increased running costs of the festival for the first time since 2010.
