A FIRE station is appealing for new crew members after losing more than '100 years of experience' with retired firefighters.

A spokesman for Broughton in Furness Fire Station said the facility has taken a 'massive hit' over the past three of our years after the retirement of crew members.

Bosses said the crew is losing another one of its team, who has served with the station for more than 20 years, and possibly two or three more firefighters shortly after that.

"This will leave us with a crew of just five!" a spokesman said.

"If you or anyone you know, can commit some time to becoming a firefighter, we need you to come forward and express your interest.

"In the coming weeks we will be running a recruitment drive and some open evenings and we need as much interest as we can get!

"If you don't try you will never know what you're missing out on!

"Broughton locals community needs you!

"If you have any questions direct message [the Broughton Fire Station] page."
