THERE has been no interest in rehoming a three-legged dog who underwent an amputation after ‘being kicked’.

RSPCA Furness and Barrow Branch are appealing for Patterdale and Staffie cross Spud to find his forever home.

Three-year-old Spud had a ‘tough start in life’ after having his right rear leg amputated but is eager to find a safe and loving home.

A spokesman for RSPCA Furness and Barrow said: “Lovable Spud is ready for adoption. Spud is a cross between a Patterdale and a Staffie and is around three years old.

“He's had a tough start in life but is so loving and affectionate. He had to have his rear right leg amputated due to an old injury caused by being kicked. He copes really well on three legs but he has been used to only using three legs for a while now. Considering he has three legs he's a little strong on the lead but not excessively so.

“He is good with dogs, though some dogs don't seem to like him, but he does not react negatively to them. Good with kiddies too but best with ones that are sensible and over six years old. Can't be rehomed with furries.”

A week after posting the advert, there was no interest in little Spud, prompting the animal charity to renew their appeal for a loving home.

An RSPCA spokesman added: “No interest at all in this affectionate three-legged boy.

“Seems that not only do people not want to adopt black cats but they don't want to adopt black doggies either.

“Lovely affectionate boy. Just wants a lovely home where he can be loved and feel safe.”

If you think you could give Spud a safe and loving home, then fill in a perfect match form which can be found on the RSPCA website and send via email to fandbrspca@talktalk.net or message the RSPCA Barrow and Furness page and leave your number. £200 adoption fee applies which goes towards vaccinations, neutering, chip and fostering costs. The charity does not give dogs away for free.
