BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has stressed the importance of having competition in his squad as they prepare to take on Sutton United.

Despite making five changes to his Bluebirds side at the Poundland Bescot Stadium at the weekend, Barrow still emerged victorious.

In their upcoming League Two test, the Bluebirds welcome inform Sutton United to the SO Legal Stadium, and ahead of the clash, Wild detailed the importance of having healthy competition for places in the squad.

He said: "I think that is a big thing that we need to have competition for places but also, we need to pick the right team for the right game as well and look at the opposition."

Wild also stressed the importance of tailoring his starting eleven to each match.

He said: "What do the opposition offer and what team should we pick to try and challenge that and try and counteract that?

"With now having a smaller squad now everybody is basically in it and working and I think that gives us a real opportunity to make sure we are picking the right team and not just go, same team, week after week."
