FIRE crews came to the rescue of a sheep that had fallen seven metres.
Teams from Barrow's full-time crew and on-call firefighters from Barrowl and Ulverston safely rescued the sheep that fallen down a seven-metre lime kiln opening in a field near the Coast Road in a four-hour operation.
The sheep suffered no injuries and was happy to be reunited with its flock, said firefighters.
A spokesman for Barrow Fire Station said: “The crews used a nine-metre ladder, working at height line rescue equipment, air monitoring unit, animal rescue equipment and the help of the farmer’s tractor used as an anchor point to rescue the sheep safely who reportedly had no injuries.
“The sheep was pleased to be reunited with the flock.”
