Made in Barrow Exhibition starts soon.

An exhibition created by and with the people of Barrow is launching in a collaboration between BarrowFull and The Dock Museum.

Showcasing the wide range of creativity that BarrowFull have supported, produced and enabled over the past two years, as the Arts Council’s Creative People and Places programme.

Visitors will enjoy audio pieces from writers and musicians from Mind in Furness, led by John Hall who created soundscapes blending recorded music and original writing.

The exhibition will also give visitors a peak behind the scenes of an Arts Council Creative People & Places programme and its Consortium - the Dock Museum hopes as many people as possible are able to see it.

The exhibition is family-friendly, with workshops running throughout March and April.

John Irving Premises Manager for the Dock Museum said: “We are delighted to be working with BarrowFull on this very exciting exhibition and we are looking forward to hosting the free workshops that will accompany it. This Exhibition will showcase all of the fantastic programmes BarrowFull have helped create over the last two years and we are looking forward to welcoming all of our visitors”.

One section of the exhibition will be a collaboration of work from Year 5 pupils at Greengate School and artist Alexander Mourant.

The children helped select the artist from a shortlist, and together they explored and responded to Earnse Bay using things they found on the beach and using cyanotype techniques.

Daniel Tyler-McTighe, Creative Director of BarrowFull, said: “The past two years since BarrowFull (formerly Barra Culture) has been in existence have been a whirlwind of getting to know people in Barrow and helping to nurture creativity in this wonderful town.

"From large-scale events like the popular Barrow Park Playcations and Festival of Colours, to really intimate workshops with individuals with particular needs, I feel like this exhibition really showcases all the hard work Barrovian people have put in so far.”

The exhibition will launch on 4 March and run until 28 April.
