PETE Wild has praised Barrow's 'steel and grit' following their crucial victory against Bradford City.

The win at Valley Parade ended a six match winless streak for the Bluebirds and moved them to within five points of the play-off places.

During the game, Barrow were restricted to just 22 per cent possession but dug in to secure the much-needed victory with Wild praising his side's resolve as they prepare for the visit of inform Stockport County.

He said: "I am really pleased, I think all credit should go to the players and the staff for implementing the game plan excpetionally well.

"I thought we were strong, we were solid. The stats show that they had 78 per cent possession, however, 90 passes of that was the two centre halves passing to each other so if we take that into context I think our shape was good and we stood strong against what was a tough Bradford side."

Wild also detailed how the Bradford performance was proof that his side are not 'far off' getting back to the levels they showed earlier in the 2022/23 campaign.

He said:"I think it just showed that we are not far off, I knew we weren't far off, I thought we turned a real corner in the second half against Doncaster the other Tuesday night and then that culminated in what we got last Saturday and it shows that the players are determined to keep going, it shows that the players have got a steel and a grit to come back from adversity and we are really pleased with how they did that."
