BARROW homes, community centres, schools and shops will transform neighbourhoods into Window Wanderlands.

BarrowFull have been working with local people in ongoing workshops across the town to give people the skills they need to create beautiful and inspiring displays which will lead to a festival of light and colour across the town.

Window Wanderlands have been held around the world.

The award-winning projects provide resources for communities to install magical imagery in buildings, bringing people together, reducing social isolation, and inspiring creativity.

Window Wanderland will take place in Ormsgill, Hindpool, Barrow Central, Risedale, Barrow Island and Walney in March.

Project manager Kathrin Bonnar said: "The workshops have been going really well. It’s great to see how much creativity is here within the Barrow population. We’re looking forward to working with local people to transform the streets into a magical outdoor gallery for all to enjoy”.

Taking part as a Windowmaker is completely free and everyone is welcome.

Everyone who makes a window display can add their location to an online map so that people can see where the displays are so that they can plan a route around them.

Displays can be as simple as a candle, book or fairylights in a window, or more adventurous creators could decorate whole rooms or even stage a performance.

Window Wanderland will take place in Barrow North on March 10, 11 and 12 from 6 to 9pm and in the rest of Barrow on March 17,18 and 19.

There will be local workshops in the run up to the event where people will learn how to make the displays.
