Readers were 'gutted' to hear Barow Fiesta, a popular restaurant and takeaway is going to shut down.

It offered dishes from the Philippines, Italy, China, Mexico, Japan and India.

In a statement, Cavendish Street eatery Barrow Fiesta said: "After much consideration, we have decided to permanently close the restaurant and takeaway.”

Readers reacted with sadness on social media.

Lauren Joanne said: “I'm gutted,” and Sheridan Pitts said: “They do the BEST Carbonara ever!”

Sue Thornton said: “So sad to hear this - had some lovely meals there and such lovely staff!”

Maddison Beaton said: “NOOOOOO the spaghetti and meatballs is so nice there, so upset!”

The restaurant made a statement saying: "The aim was always to represent the wonderful fusion of all the different cultures that exist in this town and to unite everyone with a common interest we will always have…food.

"Thank you for helping us bring the Fiesta to Barrow. Maraming salamat po."
