Barrow AFC's out-of-favour defender Mark Ellis has made a second loan move of the season.

The centre-half has joined National League club York City on loan until the end of the season.

It is a second loan switch of the season for the 34-year-old, who had a recent spell with Torquay United.

Ellis has been out of favour at Holker Street under Pete Wild and now joins a Minstermen side sitting 17th in non-league's top tier.

York boss David Webb welcomed the signing of the experienced defender.

"I’m delighted to welcome Mark to York City on loan with us until the end of the season," he told the York website.

“He brings with him a wealth of playing experiences as well as great leadership qualities which will make him a great addition to the squad.”

Ellis could make his debut against his former club Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.

The former Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra and Shrewsbury Town man  joined Barrow in the summer of 2021 under Mark Cooper, making 22 appearances last season, also going out on loan to Solihull.
