A DOG-WALKING service which got tails wagging when it first opened is moving up the county after a ‘turbulent’ few months.

Shipyard worker Paige Carr launched a new pet-sitting and dog-walking business in Barrow earlier this year named Hanks Hounds and Pets.

The Barrovian and self-professed animal-lover provides dog walking, pet drop-ins and pet sitting for dogs, cats and small furries across the local area.

Paige’s services involved travelling between Barrow and Ulverston and anywhere in between to cater to clients' furry friends' needs.

However, nearly a year on since launching the business, Paige has announced she will no longer be offering services in the South Cumbria area.

Paige took to social media to announce the news that her business would be relocating up the county and would be temporarily closed until they find their feet.

In a statement shared online, she said: “Some of you may have realised I’ve been a little quieter on here than usual; that’s because we are relocating! After a very turbulent few months, we can now confirm that we will be moving up the county.

“This does mean that unfortunately we will no longer be able to offer our services around the south lakes area. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all my clients who have supported me along the journey of starting up Hank Hounds and Pets. I could never have imagined how well it would have taken off and I’ve loved spending time with all your fur-babies.

“Hanks hounds and Pets is now temporarily closed until we find our feet in our new location.”

Paige said she was inspired to set up her business after seeing friends and family follow their passions.

She said: "I had been inspired by people around me following their dreams and proving that it is doable to do a business on the side of a full-time job.

"I'd been walking friends dogs for quite a while and loved it. So… thought why not do this as a business?

"My main passion is animals - they're like an extension of my family.

"My love of animals started from a young age. I was always rescuing animals and bringing them home.

"The motive behind the business came from my love of animals. I wanted to do something based around my passion.”

Named after Miss Carr's 'goofy' one-year-old Labrador Hank, Hanks Hounds and Pets received a 'phenomenal' response when it officially launched in January.
