A 61-YEAR-OLD Pedestrian is in a critical condition after he was hit by a Ford Ka in a road traffic collision in Barrow yesterday afternoon. (Monday November 14)

Emergency services rushed to the collision scene shortly after 4.30pm in North Road in Barrow, in the vicinity of Brewers Fayre and the man was taken to hospital. 

Cumbria Police who were contacted by NWAS attended and spoke to the driver who remained on scene. No arrests have been made. 

A Police spokeman said: "The pedestrian – a 61-year-old man from the Barrow area – was taken to hospital with serious injuries."

"Officers are appealing for any witnesses or people with dashcam to come forward."

"The collision remains under investigation and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what occurred.

"They are also keen to hear from anyone with dashcam who suspects they may have recorded anything which could assist officers with their investigation."

As the Mail went to press the casualty was said to be in a critical condition in hospital after the incident.
