READERS said it was 'great news' that two young entrepreneurs were setting up a stall in Barrow market.

Reece and Immy's Toy Stop opened the stall at Barrow Market in October after running the business from home.

Reece MacDonald, 21, and Imogen Marshall, 22, started selling a range of goods online but quickly found that their true passion lay in selling children’s toys. The Toy Stop now sells a range of toys from classic joke shop items to dolls, puzzles, fidget toys and colouring books to remote control cars, drones and helicopters, kids jewellery and homemade resin keyrings.

The shop was officially opened by the mayor of Barrow councillor Hayley Preston. Councillor Preston said: “It’s really great to see another new business open at Barrow Market."

Michelle Gunter said: "Great news."

Colin France wished them 'all the best.'

Amanda Jayne Armstrong said: "Good luck to them."

Mark Massingham also wished them good luck.

However others expressed their concerns about how difficult it is to run a business in Barrow Market. Ruth Lipcombe said: "There are some beautiful stalls in the market. There just doesn't seem to be many customers about when you go in."

Deja Nu replied: "Lots of amazing small businesses around here - the market could be thriving. Don't get me wrong we work from home well but an affordable and worthwhile option for a stall that would be feasible would be ace."

Some commentators said that the market should become more accessible as part of the improvements it will receive from the Levelling Up fund.

Anne Scourfield asked: "Are there going to be new toilets in the Market when it is altered?"

Dawn Mckellar replied: "I said they need to also have accessible changing facilities too for disabled people who require hoisting and changing benches. Surely they can afford that with all the millions it is costing."
