MORE jobs are set to be created at a family-run retailer which has launched a state-of-the-art cycling shop.

Gaynor Sports in Ambleside has branched out into bikes and opened a new independent cycle store the town.

The cycle store, which swung open its doors two weeks ago, stocks more than 100 bikes, including mountain, touring, gravel and electric bikes.

The expansion will also mean five more staff members will join the team in the coming future.

A spokesman for Gaynor Sports said: “We recognise that visitors to Ambleside and the wider Lake District come for a diverse range of activities, often over a single day.

“Gaynors has been supporting outdoor enthusiasts from across the UK for many years and we wanted to help them realise their ambitions within different activity.

“Ambleside is one of the best cycling bases to explore the Lakes we felt the cycling community would benefit from a large independent cycle store.

“Working closely with our brand partners Orange and Scott Mountain bikes, we are offering the latest selection of mountain, touring and gravel bikes both E-Bike and traditional bikes.

“We wanted to bring our 40 years of experience retailing clothing to the cycle store and have a comprehensive range of the best cycling clothing there is form Endura, Altura, Troy lee and Madison.  Alongside this we have every cycling accessory covered.

“We have also invested extensively in our repair workshop; we offer servicing and advice on any type of bike.”

Company bosses also revealed they have redeveloped their building to accommodate their state-of-the-art cycle shop.

A spokesman said: “We have had an extensive refit, modernising the retail environment allowing us to showcase premium E Bikes in a wonderful environment alongside our range of clothing and accessories. We have also redeveloped a large section of our building to accommodate our state-of-the-art cycle workshop.

“The technology behind E-Bikes had finally matured, the product is excellent and we feel this opens the joy that getting out in the lakes, either on gravel paths or up in the mountains to many new consumers.  It’s a pleasure to be able to offer our long serving customers who already love the outdoor the ability to learn what’s out there on the e bike front.

“The response has been incredible, we have had such a positive reaction from both existing and new customers We have been selling bikes from day one, our workshop has been flat out from the day we opened; in fact, we’ll shortly be looking to expand our team to cope!”
